The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort for travelers from Fremont County, Colorado, who want a winter escape from the cold. Our local team answers questions before you book.

Winters in Fremont County can bring long stretches of cold, gray days and snow that settle into the mountain valleys. For many people there, the idea of trading heavy coats for warm sand and clear water is a powerful one, especially when the cold season seems to stretch on. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, where the weather stays warm through the winter months. Staying in a villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to spread out, cook a few meals, and settle into a slower rhythm than a typical hotel stay allows.

Getting from Fremont County to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From Fremont County you will likely connect through a larger hub before landing there, so it helps to keep your connections loose and your bags simple.
  2. Choose your departure window. Think about when you want to leave Colorado for the islands. Winter storms in the mountains can disrupt flights out of the region, so many travelers pick a departure that leaves a little room for weather before their villa stay begins.
  3. Plan the stay itself. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a winter escape well. Once you arrive, you will take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Driving on St. John is on the left, so plan your rental car with that in mind.
