The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps couples from Florence, Colorado, plan a quiet island getaway at a villa at the Westin St John Resort, with local answers before you book.

Florence sits in the high country of Colorado, where the mountain air is dry and the winters bring real cold. For a couple coming from there, a trip to the Caribbean can feel like a clean change of pace. The Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands offers a warm, unhurried setting, and the villa rentals there give you a home base that feels private rather than busy. Many couples find that a villa suits them better than a standard hotel room. You can cook a slow breakfast, sit on a terrace together in the evening, and keep your own schedule without much planning. Villas are rented by the week, which tends to suit a couple who wants time to settle in instead of rushing from one thing to the next.

Planning your trip from Florence

  1. Reaching St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into the day so the connections feel relaxed. Once you arrive, remember that driving on the island is on the left, which is worth keeping in mind if you rent a car.
  2. Choosing your season. Florence gets cold winters, so many couples from Colorado choose to leave during the darker months at home. The islands stay warm through much of the year, and that steady climate is part of the appeal. Think about what kind of trip you want, whether it is a slower stretch of sun or a change from the mountain seasons, and let that guide when you go.
  3. Planning the stay. Start with the villa, since it shapes everything else about your days. Decide how many nights you want and how much time you want to spend simply staying put. Ask the St John Condos team any questions you have before booking, including about the villa rentals and what each one offers. Having those answers early makes the rest of the planning feel easy.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa a good choice for a couple?

For many couples, yes. A villa gives you a kitchen, a private outdoor space, and room to move at your own pace. Because villas are rented by the week, you can settle in and stop thinking about checkout times. If you prefer a more social setting, a standard room may suit you better, and the team can help you compare.

Do I need to know anything about driving on St. John?

Yes, the island drives on the left side of the road, so take a moment to get comfortable before you head out. Roads can be winding, so go at a calm pace. If you would rather not drive at all, plan your outings around the villa and ask the St John Condos team what getting around looks like before you arrive.
