The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, helping travelers from Morgan County, Colorado, plan a first Caribbean trip to a villa at the Westin St John Resort.

If you live in Morgan County, Colorado, a first trip to the Caribbean can feel like a very long way from the flat prairie and open skies you know. The distance is real, but the islands are reachable with a little planning. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Knowing that path ahead of time makes the whole journey feel far less daunting. Your Colorado winters tend to be cold and dry, so the warm, humid air of the islands may feel like a change at first. Many travelers from the interior West find the sea breeze and the slower pace a welcome contrast. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a private base with room to unwind, cook a meal, and take things at your own speed.

A first Caribbean trip, planned from Morgan County

  1. Getting to St. John. Most people from Colorado connect through a larger hub and then reach St. Thomas, the island airport code STT. From there a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Expect the ferry to be the most scenic part of the trip. Keep your bags light, since you will carry them on and off the boat yourself.
  2. Choosing when to go. Compare your own calendar with the season you want. Colorado schools and ski-season crowds shape many travelers' choices, so think about when you can truly step away. Colder months at home often make the islands especially appealing. Give yourself a stretch of days rather than a rushed weekend, so the trip feels like a real escape.
  3. Planning your stay. Villa Rentals are booked by the week, which suits a first visit well because you can settle in and explore at an easy pace. Plan for driving on the left, since it is the rule on St. John, and consider whether you want a rental car at all. Ask the St John Condos team any questions before you book so your plans feel clear from the start.

Frequently asked questions

I have never flown to the Caribbean. What should I expect on the way?

Expect a connection, then a short taxi ride from the St. Thomas airport to Red Hook and a passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Pack light, keep your documents handy, and build in a relaxed buffer. Once you reach the island, the slower rhythm usually makes the effort feel worthwhile.

Is a villa a good choice for a first trip, or should I stay somewhere else?

A villa suits many first-time visitors because it gives you space, a kitchen, and privacy after a long journey. You can cook simple meals, rest between outings, and set your own pace. The St John Condos team can talk through whether a villa matches the kind of trip you have in mind.
