The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from West Simsbury, Connecticut, plan a winter escape from the cold to villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Our local team answers your questions before you book.
Winters in Connecticut can be long, gray, and cold, and by midwinter many people in West Simsbury start looking for a place where the air feels soft and the days stretch out under open skies. St. John offers that kind of change of pace. The island sits in the Caribbean, where the warmth is steady and the scenery is green hills meeting clear water, which makes it a natural choice for travelers who want to set the snow down for a while. Villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a more private way to enjoy that warmth than a standard hotel room. You rent a villa by the week, settle in, and let the stay unfold at its own speed. For someone leaving a northern winter behind, that slower rhythm is often the real reason to go, and it is the part we like to talk through with you before you commit to anything.

Planning your escape from West Simsbury
- Getting to the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. It is a simple sequence, but it helps to know the steps before you leave home, especially if you are carrying luggage through several legs of the trip and want the day to feel calm.
- Choosing when to leave. Think about how much winter you want to escape and how much of it you can afford to miss at home. Leaving early in the season may give you the strongest contrast with snowy Connecticut, while a later departure can still deliver plenty of warmth. Tell us which weeks you have in mind, and we will help you weigh the options against your schedule and your tolerance for the cold.
- Planning the stay. A week or more in a villa gives you room to rest, cook, and explore without rushing. Consider how you want your days to feel, whether that means lazy mornings, time near the water, or a few planned outings. Share your group size and preferences with us, and we will point you toward a villa rental that suits the kind of winter reset you have in mind.
