The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from East Hartford, Connecticut, plan a milestone celebration at a villa at the Westin St John Resort, with a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels different from an ordinary weekend. For many travelers from East Hartford, that means leaving behind cold Connecticut winters and spending time on a Caribbean island where the water is warm and the days move slowly. The Westin St John Resort offers a setting that suits an anniversary, a big birthday, or a retirement, and villa rentals give you room to gather family or friends under one roof. This page is written to help you think through the practical side of that celebration. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and most visitors reach it by flying into St. Thomas and making the short trip across by ferry. Once you have a sense of how the pieces fit together, the planning becomes far less daunting, and you can spend your energy on what matters most, which is the occasion itself.

Planning your milestone from East Hartford
- Getting to St. John. Most travelers from East Hartford fly to St. Thomas, which is the usual gateway to the islands. From the airport you take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, so many guests prefer to rely on taxis or the resort's arrangements for the first few days.
- Choosing when to leave. Connecticut winters are cold and gray, so many people from East Hartford plan their milestone trip for the months when the northeast weather is at its harshest. Traveling during those months can make the warm island air feel especially welcome. Think about the date of your celebration first, then work backward to pick a departure that gives everyone a relaxed arrival.
- Planning the stay. Villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort are booked by the week, so decide early how many nights you want and how many guests will be sharing the space. Make a short list of must-have details, such as a celebratory dinner or a quiet morning on the water, and share it with your group. Our team can talk through the options before you commit.
