The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from Somers, Connecticut, plan a week of villa rentals with friends at the Westin St John Resort before they book. Ask them anything first.
A week away with friends is one of the easiest trips to plan when everyone agrees on the basics. From Somers, Connecticut, the Northeast gives you a familiar starting point, and a villa at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands gives the group room to spread out, cook together, and keep its own schedule. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a shared trip well. The island itself is quiet and green, and the pace is slower than most home routines. Plenty of visitors come to St. John for exactly that. Because the group will share a space for several days, it helps to talk through sleeping arrangements, meals, and who handles the driving early on. Driving on St. John is on the left, so the friends who take the wheel should know that before arriving.

Getting from Somers to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from Connecticut fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, the usual route is a taxi to Red Hook and then the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Agree on one shared arrival plan so the group is not scattered across different flights and taxis when everyone lands.
- Pick your departure window. Winters in Connecticut are cold, so many friends from Somers choose to leave during the colder months for warm weather on the islands. Talk as a group about school, work, and holiday schedules before you settle on dates. Once the week is chosen, the St John Condos team can help you match villa availability to that window.
- Plan the stay together. A week with friends works best when the plan leaves room for both shared time and quiet time. Decide early who is covering groceries, who is booking any outings, and how costs will be split. Your villa rental at the Westin St John Resort will be the home base, so settle on that setup before you ask the team to confirm your dates.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good fit for a group of friends from Somers?
For most groups, yes. A villa gives everyone separate space, a kitchen for shared meals, and a common area to gather. Confirm the number of bedrooms and bathrooms with the St John Condos team so the sleeping arrangements suit your group before you book.
What should we know about getting around St. John?
Driving on St. John is on the left, which catches some visitors off guard. Ask the team about the vehicle options near your villa and make sure at least one or two drivers in the group feel comfortable with that before you arrive.
