The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and they can help travelers from Montgomery Village, Maryland, plan a beach-centered trip to villas at the Westin St John Resort on St. John.
If you live in Montgomery Village, your idea of a beach trip probably starts with a long stretch of sand and water that looks nothing like the Maryland shoreline you know. Maryland winters are cold and gray, so many families here start dreaming about warm sea breezes well before the holidays arrive. A trip built around the beach asks you to think about how you want your days to feel, not just where you want to stand. Staying in a villa changes the rhythm of that beach week. Instead of hurrying between a hotel lobby and a crowded pool, you can wander out in the morning, come back for a slow lunch, and return to the water when the light softens. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are set up for people who want that kind of unhurried, shoreline-focused stay, and the team at St John Condos can explain what suits your group.

Planning Your Beach Trip from Montgomery Village
- Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas (STT), then take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. From Montgomery Village, you can work out which connections suit you best. Once you land, keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, so if you plan to rent a car, take a moment to get comfortable before heading out onto the roads.
- Choosing your departure season. Maryland's cold months are the usual reason families from Montgomery Village head south for a beach week. Think about when you can truly step away from work and school, and whether a warmer shoulder period suits your group better. The islands stay warm year round, so the decision often comes down to your calendar and how much you want to avoid the chill at home.
- Planning the villa stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives you room to settle in rather than rushing from place to place. Decide how many days you want on the sand, which meals you plan to cook, and whether you want a quiet week or a busier one. Before you book, reach out to the St John Condos team so they can walk you through the villa options at the Westin St John Resort.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to plan much ahead to enjoy the beach from Montgomery Village?
Planning ahead helps most with timing, since the travel from Maryland involves a flight to St. Thomas, a taxi ride, and a ferry before you reach the beach. Choosing your dates early gives you more options for villa availability and helps the trip feel relaxed rather than rushed once you arrive.
Is a villa a good choice for a beach-focused trip?
For many travelers, yes. A villa gives you a home base near the water, a kitchen for simple breakfasts, and space to spread out. The St John Condos team can talk through whether Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort match how you like to spend a beach week.
