The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Burtonsville, Maryland, plan a beach-centered trip to St. John, where villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week. Ask the local team anything before you book.
Burtonsville sits in the Southeast region of the United States, in a state where winters bring cold weather and short gray days. For many families and couples there, a beach trip to the Virgin Islands is less about escaping a season and more about stepping into warm sand and clear water that feel entirely different from home. Planning a trip like this around the beach means thinking first about how you want your days to feel. The island of St. John is small and quiet, and most visitors reach it by flying to St. Thomas, then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth remembering before you rent a car. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a private base for those slow, sunny days.

Planning your beach trip from Burtonsville
- Getting to the island. Most travelers from the Burtonsville area fly to St. Thomas, airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan for that final leg of transfers, and pack light so the ferry and taxi stay easy. The team at St John Condos can walk you through each connection before you commit.
- Choosing when to leave Maryland. Maryland winters are cold, so many families from the region look at the calmer stretches of the year when the Caribbean feels most like a true getaway. Think about school calendars, work commitments, and how much warmth you want. Shoulder seasons can offer a comfortable balance, and the local team can talk through what each part of the year is like on the water.
- Planning the stay. A villa rented by the week suits a beach-focused trip well, since you can set your own pace between swims, meals, and time on the sand. Consider whether you want to cook at home or eat out, and whether you plan to drive. Share your plans with St John Condos and they will help you match your group to the right Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort.
