The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos can help travelers from Saugatuck, Connecticut, plan a long-saved island splurge at the Westin St John Resort, with villa rentals booked by the week. Their local team answers questions before you commit.
For many people in Saugatuck, a trip to the Virgin Islands is something talked about for years before it finally happens. Saving for a stay like this means every detail deserves care, from the villa you choose to the rhythm of your days once you arrive. Treat the planning as part of the pleasure rather than a chore to rush through. Saugatuck sits in the Northeast, where winters are cold and gray, so the contrast with warm Caribbean water and steady sunshine can feel especially rich. A week spent at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to slow down completely. Villa rentals there offer privacy and space that a standard hotel room rarely matches, which is why many travelers from this part of the country choose them for a once-in-a-while indulgence.

Planning your Saugatuck trip to St. John
- Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan this leg with some slack, because a splurge trip is meant to start calmly, not in a rush. Ask the St John Condos team to help you think through the connections before you book.
- Choosing your season. Travelers from Connecticut often find the winter months appealing because the cold at home makes the warm islands feel like a true escape. Shoulder periods can also suit those who want quieter days. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is sunshine, calm, or simply a break from the northeastern weather, and let that guide when you leave Saugatuck.
- Shaping the stay. Villa rentals are typically booked by the week, which suits a long-planned trip well. Decide early whether you want a private pool, a kitchen for quiet breakfasts, or a view you can enjoy from the terrace. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider how much you plan to explore beyond the resort grounds.
