The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and they help travelers from Menard County, Illinois plan a trip to villas at the Westin St John Resort for the whole family.

A trip with grandparents, parents, and children asks for more planning than a simple getaway, and that is where a conversation with a local team helps. Travelers from Menard County often think about how each generation will move through the day, which rooms suit whom, and how much time everyone wants to spend together versus apart. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you separate spaces under one roof, so the whole group can gather for breakfast and still have quiet corners. Menard County sits in the middle of Illinois, where winters are cold and gray for much of the year. Many families from this part of the state welcome the chance to swap a frozen driveway for warm sand and clear water. Planning a stay in a villa means thinking about kitchens, outdoor seating, and rooms for different sleep schedules, all details that a local team can help you sort out before anything is booked.

Planning a Family Trip from Menard County

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. With grandparents in the group, consider mobility needs at each step, including taxi trunk space, boarding the ferry, and luggage for several generations. Ask the St John Condos team how they suggest arranging this leg.
  2. Choosing when to travel. Illinois winters are long, so many families from Menard County find the cooler months on the islands especially appealing when school calendars and family schedules allow. Think about who in your group needs the most comfortable weather, and whether anyone prefers a quieter stretch of the year. Your local contact can talk through how the seasons tend to feel so you can choose the timing that fits everyone.
  3. Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are typically booked by the week, which gives a multigenerational group room to settle in. Consider which villa layout gives the oldest and youngest travelers easy access to a bedroom, bathroom, and shaded space. Driving on St. John is on the left, so you may want to plan rides with a driver who is comfortable with that. Share your family's needs with St John Condos early.

Frequently asked questions

Can a villa work well for grandparents, parents, and young children together?

Many families find that a villa suits a multigenerational trip because each group can have its own space while still sharing meals and time outdoors. Tell the St John Condos team who is traveling, including any mobility needs or sleep routines, and they can help you think through which layout and setup will feel most comfortable for everyone.

How do we get around the island with older relatives in the group?

St. John is driven on the left, and the roads can be steep and winding, so many families prefer to plan rides with a driver they trust. Think about vehicle space and step-free access before you arrive. The local team can explain common options for getting around so your older relatives can enjoy the trip without strain.
