The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps travelers from Kane County, Illinois plan a snorkeling and beach week on St. John, with villas at the Westin St John Resort rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.

Kane County sits in the northern part of Illinois, where winters are cold and the lake-effect chill can linger well into spring. For many families from this part of the Midwest, a week of warm water and sandy beaches feels like a real change of season. The idea of spending your days in clear shallows, looking at fish among the rocks, and then resting on a shaded porch is often what starts the planning. Villa Rentals offer something a hotel room rarely can: a kitchen for slow mornings, room to spread out, and a home base that feels like yours for the length of the stay. At the Westin St John Resort, villas are rented by the week, which suits a snorkeling trip well. You can ease into the island pace, return to the water whenever you like, and keep your own schedule without rushing from one plan to the next.

Planning a snorkeling week from Kane County

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Kane County reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan for that connection with a little room to spare, and remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so take that into account if you rent a car.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Illinois winters are long, so many travelers from Kane County aim for the stretch when the islands are warm and the snorkeling is pleasant. Think about your own calendar, your children's school breaks, and the season you most want to be in the water. Early planning gives you more choice in the villa you want and the flights that fit your schedule.
  3. Planning the stay. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are booked by the week, so decide how many days you want for the water and how many for rest. Think about gear, sunscreen, and a few easy dinners you can make at home. Send your questions to the St John Condos team before you book, and they will help you match the villa to your plans.

Frequently asked questions

For many travelers from Kane County, a week is a good length. It gives you time to try several spots, settle into a morning routine in the water, and still have easy afternoons on the beach. If you are new to snorkeling, the extra days let you build confidence without feeling rushed.
