The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos can answer your questions before you book a week of snorkeling and beach days at the Westin St John Resort, whether you are setting out from Middletown or anywhere in Connecticut. Ask us about villa rentals and how a stay on the island fits your plans.
Middletown sits in the middle of Connecticut, a long way from the warm water of the US Virgin Islands. For most travelers from here, a week on St. John begins with a plan that stretches from a home-town departure to a quiet villa with a view of the sea. The island rewards people who like slow mornings, a mask and snorkel, and an afternoon on the sand. The Westin St John Resort is a good base for that kind of week. Villa Rentals give you room to spread out, cook a simple breakfast, and head down to the water whenever the mood strikes. Because the island is small and calm, many visitors find that the daily rhythm feels easy once they arrive, and that is the part worth planning for carefully.

Planning your island week from Middletown
- Getting from the area. Most travelers from Middletown reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Keep a bag light for the ferry, and check your ride ahead of time so the handoff from plane to boat goes smoothly.
- Choosing when to leave. Connecticut winters are cold, so many people from Middletown look toward the islands during the colder months at home. The water on St. John stays warm through the year, which makes snorkeling pleasant whenever you go. Think about your own calendar, then pick a week that gives you room to rest, swim, and enjoy the beach without rushing.
- Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are booked by the week, which suits a snorkeling trip well. Pick a villa that fits how you like to travel, and plan a few open days for the beach rather than a packed schedule. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so think about whether you want a car or prefer to walk and take rides.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need a car for a beach week on St. John?
It depends on your plans. If you want to reach different beaches and shops on your own time, a car can be handy, and you will drive on the left. If you prefer a slower week near your villa, you may find you need fewer rides than you expect. Our team can talk through the options before you book.
Is a villa rental a good fit for a family or a group from Middletown?
Many travelers from Connecticut choose villas because they offer more space and a kitchen for simple meals. Villa Rentals are booked by the week, which helps when you are sharing costs or planning a relaxed stay together. Send us your group size and what you hope to do, and we will help you find a good match.
