The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and for travelers from Mays Chapel, Maryland, planning a week of exploring the island, we can talk through what a stay at the Westin St John Resort looks like from start to finish.
A week on St. John gives you room to settle in rather than rush from one stop to the next. If you are coming from Mays Chapel, Maryland, you are probably used to a state with real seasons, so the warm, steady climate of the Virgin Islands may feel like a different kind of rhythm. Many visitors find that the first couple of days are mostly about slowing down and letting the pace of the island set in. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which fits a trip of this length very naturally. Having your own space to return to means you can plan quiet mornings, long lunches, and evenings that are unhurried. Our team can walk you through the choices so that the week feels like yours and not a checklist of places to see.

Getting from Mays Chapel to St. John
- Reaching the islands. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a short, simple sequence of connections, and keep your bags light enough to manage them comfortably on the ferry dock.
- Choosing your departure. Think about when you want to be on the island rather than the exact day you fly out of Maryland. Mays Chapel travelers often book around the cooler months of the Caribbean dry season or around the quieter stretches of the year. Our team can help you line up a week that suits your schedule and your comfort with warm weather.
- Planning your week. Once your dates are set, sketch a loose plan for the week rather than a packed itinerary. Leave open mornings for the beach or the pool, pick two or three outings you truly care about, and remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road. A relaxed plan usually makes the week feel far longer and more restful.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to rent a car on St. John for a week?
Many guests find a rental car helpful for getting around the island, but it is a personal choice. Keep in mind that you will be driving on the left, which takes some getting used to. Our team can share what to expect so you can decide whether a car, taxis, or a mix suits the way you want to explore.
Is a villa a good choice for a full week compared with a hotel room?
For a week, a villa gives you more space, a kitchen for simple meals, and a place to unwind between outings. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which lines up well with a trip of this length. Reach out and we will help you compare the options before you book.
