The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Lakewood plan a three generation trip to the Westin St John Resort, with villas rented by the week so grandparents, parents, and children can share one home base on the island.
A trip with grandparents, parents, and children all together asks a lot of a plan. Everyone has different energy levels, different ideas about mornings, and different wishes for what a day should hold. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give your group room to spread out, with separate spaces to rest and gather without anyone feeling crowded. For families coming from Lakewood, where winters are cold and the sun can feel far away, a warm island week often becomes the trip everyone remembers. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, taking a taxi to Red Hook, and boarding the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth remembering when you pick up a rental car. St John Condos is a local team, and we are glad to answer your questions before you book, so the logistics feel settled long before you pack.

Getting from Lakewood to St. John
- Plan the journey in stages. Think of the trip as three legs: getting from your home to St. Thomas, moving from the airport to Red Hook, and then crossing by passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Each leg has its own pace, so build in a little slack for the youngest and oldest members of the group. Carry medications, comfortable shoes, and a light layer for the ferry, and keep important documents together in one bag.
- Choose the season with care. Lakewood travelers often look for relief from winter, and the islands can deliver that in most months. Think about your family's comfort with warm, humid air and occasional rain showers. Grandparents who tire easily may prefer a time of year when the days feel calmer. Talk with the St John Condos team about what suits your group, and let the calendar follow the people you most want to keep comfortable.
- Plan the stay around everyone. Use your villa as the anchor for each day. Plan a slow morning for the group, an outing that suits the most mobile members, and an afternoon when everyone can nap or swim at their own pace. Because villas are rented by the week, you can settle in and let days unfold without rushing. Ask us early about layouts and room arrangements, so each generation has the space it needs.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa better than a hotel room for a three generation trip?
For many families it is. A villa gives grandparents a quiet room, parents a place to gather after dinner, and children space to play without disturbing anyone. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits a longer stay where everyone can unwind together and keep their own routines.
