Villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort suit travelers who want room to spread out, a kitchen for simple meals, and a base that is yours for the week. Planning a beach trip from La Junta
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Colorado fly into St. Thomas, which has the STT airport code, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack in your schedule for the transfers, since island connections can shift a bit. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so rent a car only if you feel comfortable with that.
- Choosing your season. Colorado winters are cold and snowy, so many people from La Junta head for the islands during the coldest months at home. The Caribbean stays warm year round, which makes almost any season workable for a beach stay. Think about your own schedule, the crowds you prefer, and how much rain you are willing to accept. Pick the window that fits your life rather than chasing a perfect forecast.
- Planning the stay. Villa rentals are typically booked by the week, which gives you a steady rhythm of mornings on the sand and unhurried afternoons. Decide early how much of your time you want planned and how much you want open. Bring sun protection, reef-safe sunscreen, and comfortable footwear for the rocky paths. Send your questions to the St John Condos team before booking so your villa and your beach days line up.
