Winters in Woody Creek, Colorado, can feel long, with snow on the ground and days that stay short and sharp. Many people who live in the Rocky Mountain West start dreaming of warm water and soft sand around the time the first cold snap settles in. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers that change of scenery in a quiet, green setting that feels far from the routine of home. Villa rentals suit travelers who want room to spread out after a cold season indoors. Staying in a villa at the Westin St John Resort means you can unpack once, cook a few meals, and enjoy a slower rhythm than a hotel stay usually allows. St John Condos is a local team, so you can ask practical questions about the villas before you commit to a booking.

Planning your winter escape from Woody Creek

  1. Reaching St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has its own airport, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a few connections when you leave Colorado, and keep your bags light enough to manage the taxi and ferry with ease. The local team can walk you through this route before you book.
  2. Choosing your travel dates. Colorado winters bring the coldest and snowiest weather in the months after the holidays, so many travelers from Woody Creek aim to leave during that stretch. Think about when you can truly step away from work and family, and whether you prefer a quieter season. St John Condos can help you weigh those choices against villa availability before you settle on dates.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which gives you time to slow down and settle in. Consider how many people are traveling, whether you want a kitchen for simple meals, and how you plan to get around, since driving on St. John is on the left. Thinking through these details ahead of time makes the trip feel relaxed rather than rushed.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a rental car on St. John if I'm coming from Woody Creek?

Many visitors find a rental car handy for getting around the island, though you will need to drive on the left side of the road. Some people prefer to rely on taxis for shorter trips. Think about what suits your plans, and ask the St John Condos team for guidance on options near your villa.

Is a villa a better choice than a hotel room for a winter trip?

A villa gives you more space, a kitchen, and a more private feel, which many travelers value after a long cold season at home. It also suits longer stays, since villas are rented by the week. If you prefer daily housekeeping and a front desk, a hotel room may fit better, and the team can help you compare.
