The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps travelers from Hidden Lake, CO, plan a winter escape from the cold to villas at the Westin St John Resort, with local answers before you book.

Winter in Colorado can feel long, and for many people in Hidden Lake the idea of trading snow boots for bare feet on warm sand is hard to resist. St John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers a very different season, with warm air and clear water in the months when the high country is buried. Many visitors from the Mountain West find that the change itself is part of the appeal. Staying in a villa changes how a winter break feels. Rather than fitting into a hotel room, you settle into a home with space to spread out, cook a few meals, and slow down at your own pace. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are set up with that kind of unhurried stay in mind, so the trip becomes about rest rather than checking off a list.

Planning Your Escape From Hidden Lake

  1. Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for a little travel on each leg, and keep your carry-on ready for the ferry. Once you land, remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth reviewing before you take the wheel.
  2. Choosing your departure. Think about when you want to leave Colorado for the islands. Winter weather in Hidden Lake can turn quickly, so an early departure window helps protect your connections. Many travelers pick a date a few weeks ahead of the coldest stretch so the change of climate arrives while they still have energy to enjoy it. Talk with the St John Condos team about what suits your calendar.
  3. Setting up your stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives you room to settle in rather than rushing between destinations. Decide early how many people are coming, what kind of kitchen you want, and whether you plan to drive much. Share those details with the St John Condos team before you book so they can help you match your group to the right villa for a relaxed winter stay.
