The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos answers questions for couples in Gales Ferry, Connecticut, who are weighing a villa rental at the Westin St John Resort on St. John. Ask us anything before you commit to a stay.
Gales Ferry sits in the eastern part of Connecticut, where winters bring cold weather and a long stretch of grey skies. For a couple looking for a change of scenery, the contrast with the warm, green hills of St. John can feel like a true reset. Many partners from this part of the Northeast find that a quiet week together, away from the usual routines, is exactly what they had been missing. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give two people room to settle in, with space to cook a simple breakfast, read on a private terrace, and set their own pace each day. Because villas are rented by the week, you can stretch out and let the trip unfold without rushing from one plan to the next. St John Condos is happy to talk through which setup suits you as a pair.

Planning your trip from Gales Ferry
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Gales Ferry fly into St. Thomas (STT), then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. It is a simple sequence once you know it, and it adds a little adventure before you arrive. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, so consider how comfortable you both feel behind the wheel before you choose a rental car.
- Choosing your season. Connecticut winters are cold, so many couples from the area are drawn to the islands during the colder months at home, when the warm air feels especially welcome. Shoulder seasons can also suit a pair who prefer fewer crowds and a more relaxed feel. Think about what kind of week you want, then talk with our team about which timing matches your expectations.
- Planning the stay itself. Decide early whether you want a slow week of lounging, a mix of quiet mornings and shared outings, or something in between. Villa Rentals at the resort are booked by the week, so the length of your stay is a good place to start. Share your plans with St John Condos, and we will help you think through the details before you book.
