The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from East Haven plan a week away with friends at the Westin St John Resort. Ask them anything before you book a villa.
A week on St. John with a group of friends has a way of turning into the kind of trip people talk about for years. For travelers starting out in East Haven, the appeal is easy to see: warm water, slow mornings, and a shared house where everyone can spread out. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give your group room to cook together, gather on a porch, and still walk down to the resort when you want company. Planning for a group is mostly about agreeing on the small things early. Decide who is handling the rental, who will track flights, and how you will split shared costs before anyone books anything. The island itself is relaxed and unhurried, so you do not need a packed itinerary. Leave space for unplanned afternoons, and let the week unfold at the pace your friends prefer.

Planning your week from East Haven
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Plan this as a group so arrivals are close together. If several people are coming from East Haven, consider booking on matching flights and agreeing on one pickup point for the taxi ride.
- Choosing when to leave. Connecticut winters are cold, so many travelers from the Northeast choose the islands during the colder months when the weather is noticeably warmer. Talk with your friends about their work schedules and school calendars early. Once you settle on a window, reach out to the St John Condos team, who can tell you what suits a group your size.
- Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are typically booked by the week, which suits a group that wants a home base rather than separate hotel rooms. Choose a villa with enough bedrooms, a kitchen everyone can use, and outdoor space for evenings together. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so whoever drives should plan a short practice run before heading out.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa better than separate hotel rooms for a group trip from East Haven?
For most groups of friends, yes. A villa keeps everyone together, gives you a kitchen for relaxed breakfasts, and creates a shared living space. Rooms at a resort offer convenience, but a villa feels more like your own week. The St John Condos team can help you compare layouts so the group feels comfortable.
Who should we talk to before booking a villa for our group?
Reach out to the St John Condos team. They are a local group who answer questions before you book, including how Villa Rentals work, what to expect at the Westin St John Resort, and how to plan around the ferry from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. Asking early helps your group decide with confidence.
