The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps couples in Dunkirk, Maryland, plan a quiet island getaway at the Westin St John Resort, with villa rentals that give you privacy and room to unwind together. Ask the local team anything before you book.

Dunkirk sits in the Southeast region of Maryland, where many couples are used to mild springs and warm summers, but a Caribbean trip still feels like a real change of pace. Saint John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers something different: clear water, green hillsides, and a slower rhythm that suits two people who want time together rather than a crowded itinerary. Staying in a villa changes the feel of a couples trip. Instead of a hotel room with shared corridors, you get your own space to cook a simple breakfast, sit outside in the evening, and decide each day how much you want to do. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are built around that kind of unhurried stay, and our team can explain what to expect before you commit.

Planning your trip from Dunkirk

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Maryland fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. It is a simple sequence once you know it. Plan a little time for the transfers, keep your bags light, and remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road.
  2. Choosing when to go. Leaving Maryland in the colder months can make the islands especially appealing, since the contrast with winter at home is sharp. Shoulder seasons often suit couples who want quieter days. Think about what kind of trip you want, then let the St John Condos team help you weigh the calendar against your own preferences.
  3. Planning the stay. Villa rentals are booked by the week, which gives you a natural rhythm for a couples getaway. Decide early whether you want a fully relaxed stay or a few planned outings. Share your ideas with our team, who can tell you what the villa offers and help you shape a stay that fits the two of you.

Frequently asked questions

Do we need a car on St. John?

Many couples find that a rental car gives them the most freedom on the island, but you should be comfortable driving on the left side of the road. Our team can talk through your options so you can decide whether to drive, arrange transportation, or keep things simple during your villa stay.

Is a villa better than a hotel room for two people?

It depends on what you value. A villa offers private outdoor space, a kitchen, and a more relaxed pace, which many couples enjoy. A hotel offers different conveniences. Contact St John Condos with your priorities, and we will help you compare the two honestly before you book.
