The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos, a local team on St. John, can help travelers from Clearwater, Florida, plan a week away with friends at a villa at the Westin St John Resort before you commit to dates.
Planning a week away with friends means balancing many preferences, and a villa can make that easier. Instead of splitting up across hotel rooms, your group can share a home base with room to gather, cook together, and unwind at the end of a day on the water. Villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort are booked by the week, which suits a group that wants a steady rhythm rather than a series of short stops. Clearwater sits on Florida's Gulf Coast, so many people who live there already know the pleasures of warm water and long afternoons outdoors. St. John offers a different kind of setting, with hills, quiet bays, and a slower pace that many groups find refreshing. Keeping the trip relaxed and shared is the goal, and the people at St John Condos are glad to talk through what your group needs before you book.

Getting from Clearwater to St. John
- Reaching the Islands. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan to have everyone's arrival details lined up so the group reaches the ferry together. If some friends are coming from other cities, the St John Condos team can suggest how to keep the transfers simple for the whole party.
- Choosing Your Departure Window. Think about when your group can realistically leave Florida, since school schedules, work commitments, and everyone's calendars all shape the choice. Some groups prefer the cooler months when the islands feel especially pleasant, while others enjoy the greener, quieter seasons. Once you have a rough window that suits the whole group, share it with the St John Condos team and ask which weeks fit best with villa availability.
- Planning the Stay. A week goes quickly, so decide early what matters most to the group, whether that is lazy mornings, guided outings, or simply time to talk. Agree on shared meals, a way to split the driving, and who handles groceries. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth mentioning to anyone who has not driven that way before. Your villa rental is your home base, so set it up around the rhythms your friends enjoy.
Frequently asked questions
Do we need to share one villa, or can our group book more than one?
Many groups choose one villa so everyone stays close together, which keeps evenings simple. Others prefer more than one home for extra privacy. St John Condos can explain how villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort are arranged and which combinations work best for a group of friends traveling from Clearwater.
Is it hard to get around the island with a group?
Getting around is manageable with some advance planning. Driving on St. John is on the left, so anyone who will take the wheel should keep that in mind. Ask the St John Condos team about practical options for moving a group, and sort out who will drive before you arrive so the first day feels easy.
