Planning a quiet week from Canaan
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into your arrival day so the transfers feel unhurried rather than rushed, and keep in mind that driving on the island happens on the left.
- Choosing when to go. Canaan's winters are cold, so many travelers from Connecticut find that a stretch of the cooler months feels especially welcome. Think about what kind of rest you want, whether that is a quiet stretch of the year or a time that suits your own calendar. Once you settle on a window, the team at St John Condos can help you line up dates.
- Planning your stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a true unwinding trip well. Decide in advance how you want your days to feel, whether that means slow mornings, a few planned outings, or mostly staying put. Share those preferences with St John Condos before you book so the villa you choose fits the kind of quiet week you have in mind.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to plan much before I leave Canaan?
A little planning goes a long way. Pick your travel window, decide whether you want a fully relaxed week or a few outings, and confirm your transfers from St. Thomas to Red Hook and across to Cruz Bay. The St John Condos team can talk through the details with you before you book, so you can arrive without loose ends.
Is a villa a good choice for a quiet week rather than a hotel?
Many travelers prefer a villa for a restful stay because it gives you your own space, a kitchen for simple meals, and the freedom to set your own pace. Villa rentals are booked by the week, so the whole stay follows a relaxed rhythm. St John Condos can help you decide whether that style suits your plans.
