The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and they can help a traveler from Westminster, Maryland, plan a beach-focused trip to St. John at the Westin St John Resort.

Westminster sits in the Southeast part of the country, in the Maryland countryside, and for many travelers from here a trip to the water is the whole point. A beach-centered holiday on St. John asks for a different kind of planning than a city break, because the days tend to revolve around sand, water, and slow mornings. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you room to build that rhythm around your own schedule. Plenty of people who live in a place with cold winters arrive on St. John wanting to be in the water from the first morning. The island's general climate is warm year round, so the planning questions usually shift toward how many days to set aside, which villa suits your group, and how to spread out your time between the shoreline and quieter afternoons. A short conversation with the St John Condos team before you commit can help you sort those choices out.

Your beach trip from Westminster

  1. Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas (STT) and then take a taxi to Red Hook, where a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your Westminster departure around that route, and keep a little room for the taxi and the ferry connection so the first afternoon of sun is not rushed. Once you land, the island feels close and easy to move around.
  2. Picking your season. Westminster winters are cold, so many families here aim for the Caribbean during the months when the home weather is at its least inviting. Think about what matters most to your group, whether that is calm water, a quieter stretch of sand, or time between beach days. The St John Condos team can talk through the timing with you before you book your villa.
  3. Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are typically booked by the week, which gives a beach-focused trip a relaxed pace. Decide early whether you want the villa as a base for lazy mornings by the water or as a launch point for exploring. Driving on St. John happens on the left side of the road, so think about who in your group will handle the wheel.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a rental car on St. John if I want to spend most days at the beach?

It depends on your plans. If you mostly want to stay near your villa and the resort, you may only need to get around occasionally. Driving on St. John is on the left, which is worth remembering if you do decide to rent a car. The St John Condos team can tell you what getting around looks like for the villa you are considering.

Is a villa better than a hotel room for a beach-focused trip from Westminster?

Many travelers find a villa gives them more space to relax between swims, cook a few meals, and set their own pace. If you are unsure which fits your trip, the St John Condos team can walk you through the differences before you book.
