The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos can help travelers from Westernport, Maryland, plan a week of exploring the island, from the first trip out of town to the last evening on the water. Our local team answers questions before you book, so you can plan with confidence.
Westernport sits in the western mountains of Maryland, where the seasons change clearly and many visitors are used to cold winters and long, green summers. A week on St. John offers a very different pace, with warm weather, clear water, and a landscape shaped by hills that run right down to the sea. Thinking about that contrast early helps you pack well and set expectations for the days ahead. A week of exploring works best when your base is comfortable and your schedule has room to breathe. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a private home to return to between outings, with space to rest, cook a simple meal, and plan the next day. Many travelers find that having that calm center makes the island feel easier to enjoy, not harder.

Your Path from Westernport to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas First. Most visitors from Westernport fly into St. Thomas, the airport code being STT, and then continue to St. John. From the airport, take a taxi to Red Hook, the village on the eastern end of St. Thomas. There you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay, the main town on St. John. Plan a little slack in your travel day in case connections shift.
- Choose Your Season. Maryland has cold winters, so many travelers from Westernport welcome the warm Caribbean months as a break from snow and gray skies. Think about what kind of week you want: quiet shoulder seasons often mean calmer roads and easier bookings, while busier periods bring more energy to the island. Our team can talk through the trade-offs with you before you commit to dates.
- Plan the Villa Stay. Book your Villa Rentals through St John Condos so you have a clear home base for the full week. Villas are rented by the week, which suits an exploring trip well. Before you arrive, note that driving on St. John is on the left, so take a moment to get comfortable with that. Map out a few flexible days so the week feels like an adventure rather than a checklist.
