The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos answers questions from travelers in Valrico, Florida, who are planning a family trip to villas at the Westin St John Resort. Our local team can talk through the details before you book.
A trip with grandparents, parents, and children asks a lot of planning, and a place in Valrico, Florida, often means a long stretch of warm weather already in your routine. Bringing three generations to St. John turns that familiar climate into something shared, with everyone settling into one villa and one slower pace. Villa rentals suit this kind of group because each family can keep its own space while still gathering for meals and quiet evenings together. Many travelers from this part of Florida find that the island feels both familiar and new. The water, the sun, and the easy rhythm of the days tend to suit older relatives and younger ones alike. Our aim is to help your family decide what matters most, whether that is room to spread out, a calm place to rest, or simply time together without everyone rushing from one plan to the next.

Getting to St. John from Valrico
- Reaching the islands. Most visitors fly into St Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. With grandparents in the group, you may want to plan for fewer transfers and set aside a little extra room in the schedule for bags, mobility needs, and an unhurried pace.
- Choosing your departure. Florida's own seasons may shape when your family wants to leave. Think about school calendars, the needs of your oldest relatives, and the weather you hope to enjoy on the island. Many families prefer the drier, calmer months, when the island feels especially relaxed. Talk through the timing with everyone before fixing dates.
- Planning the stay. Villa rentals are typically booked by the week, which gives a multigenerational group room to settle in. Consider how many bedrooms and bathrooms each household needs, how close the villa sits to the resort amenities, and whether there is space for everyone to gather. Our team can help you compare options so the stay fits all three generations.
