The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Rosemont, Maryland, plan a week of snorkeling and beach days on St. John, with villas at the Westin St John Resort rented by the week. Ask the local team anything before you book.
Rosemont sits in Maryland, a state where winters are cold and the air often turns gray by late autumn. For many families and friends from here, a week of warm water and sandy beaches is exactly the reset they have been wanting. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers that kind of week with calm bays, clear water for snorkeling, and a slower pace that feels very different from home. This page is for travelers who want their days built around the water: morning swims, afternoons on the sand, and evenings with a view. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you room to spread out, cook a simple meal, and come and go at your own pace. The steps below walk you through the practical side so the planning feels manageable.

How Rosemont travelers can plan a snorkeling week on St. John
- Getting from Rosemont. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Driving on the island is on the left, so many people find it easiest to arrange their ride with the resort or a local driver before arrival.
- Choosing when to travel. Maryland winters are cold, so many travelers from Rosemont plan their trip for the cooler months when the island feels especially inviting and the crowds on the beaches tend to be lighter. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is calm mornings for snorkeling or a stretch of quiet days, and pick dates that fit your work and school calendars.
- Planning your stay. Villa Rentals are booked by the week, which suits a snorkeling trip well because you can settle in and let each day unfold. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, a good mask, and a dry bag for the boat or beach. Write down the beaches you most want to visit, then ask the St John Condos team which ones are easiest to reach from your villa.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to rent a car if I am staying at the Westin St John Resort?
It depends on how much you plan to explore. Driving on St. John is on the left, which takes some getting used to. Many guests from Rosemont prefer to arrange transportation for a few trips and spend the rest of the week relaxing near their villa and the water.
What should I bring for snorkeling from Maryland?
Bring your own mask, snorkel, and fins if you have a favorite set, since fitting gear can be hard to find on short notice. Add reef-safe sunscreen, a rash guard for longer swims, and a waterproof case for your phone. The St John Condos team can tell you what to expect at the villa.
