The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that can answer your questions before you book a quiet week for travelers from Palmer, Alaska, at villas near the Westin St John Resort. Ask us anything about villa rentals first.

Palmer sits in the Matanuska Valley of south central Alaska, in the West, where long summer evenings give way to cold, dark winters. After a season like that, many people from Palmer feel ready for something slower, a week with warm water, unhurried mornings, and nothing on the calendar. St John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers exactly that kind of quiet. A week at a villa rented by the week can feel like a real pause rather than a trip with a checklist. You can keep your own pace, sleep in, read on a porch, and let the days blur together. St John Condos handles the villa side of things, so you can focus on resting once you arrive.

Getting from Palmer to St. John

  1. Fly into St. Thomas. Most visitors reach St. John by flying to St. Thomas, airport code STT. From Palmer you will likely connect through a larger hub before landing there. Once you arrive, plan on a taxi ride to Red Hook, the usual starting point for getting over to the island. Leave a little slack in your plans so the connection feels relaxed rather than rushed.
  2. Choose your timing. Picking when to leave Alaska matters more than most people expect. Palmer winters are long and dark, so many travelers from there enjoy heading south during the coldest, grayest stretch of the year. The Virgin Islands stay warm across the seasons, so the choice is really about what kind of break you want. Think about the weather you are leaving behind and the calm you are hoping to find.
  3. Plan your quiet week. Book a villa for the full week so you are not packing up and moving between places. Plan just a few light things to do and leave plenty of open time. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which may feel unfamiliar, so consider how much you really need to drive. Villa Rentals through St John Condos can help you match a home to the kind of rest you want.
