The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos can help a multigenerational group from Oxon Hill, Maryland, plan a shared trip to St. John, where villas at the Westin St John Resort give grandparents, parents, and children room to gather and still keep their own space.
A trip with grandparents, parents, and children asks for something different from a standard resort stay. Everyone wants time together at the table and the pool, but everyone also wants a quiet corner to return to. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are built around that balance, with separate living areas and a kitchen where a family can cook together in the evening. Travelers from Oxon Hill often bring a mix of ages and energy levels, so planning starts with honesty about who needs what. Some will want to swim and hike, others will prefer a long breakfast on the terrace. St John Condos is a local team that answers these questions before you book, so you can match the villa and the week to your group rather than hoping the fit works out.

Getting from Oxon Hill to St. John
- Reaching St. Thomas. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas at airport code STT. Coordinate arrivals early so the whole group lands close together, especially if grandparents are traveling with you. From the airport, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for luggage and older travelers, and ask your St John Condos contact about the simplest way to make each transfer.
- Picking the right season. Maryland winters are cold, so many families from Oxon Hill look toward the Caribbean in the colder months for warm air and sunshine. Think about who is traveling. Some older relatives may prefer milder weather, while younger children may do best with a calmer schedule. Talk through timing as a group before you commit, and let the season shape how much you plan for each day.
- Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are booked by the week, which suits multigenerational groups well because days can move at a relaxed pace. Share a simple plan that covers meals, rest periods, and any outings, and leave open time for spontaneity. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider whether you want a rental vehicle or prefer to arrange transport in advance. Your St John Condos contact can walk you through each choice.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good choice for a group with grandparents and young children?
Often it is. A villa gives each generation its own room and bathroom space while keeping everyone under one roof for meals. The kitchen lets you adjust breakfast and dinner to different appetites and dietary needs. Tell the St John Condos team about your group's ages and needs, and they can help you judge whether a particular villa layout suits your family.
How should a family from Oxon Hill divide up the planning?
Assign roles early. One person can handle travel dates and airport transfers, another can track each person's health and mobility needs, and a third can gather ideas for activities. Share everything in one place so no one is guessing. St John Condos can answer questions from each person before you book, which keeps the planning calm and the group in agreement.
