The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort to travelers planning a week of snorkeling and beach days from Aquasco, Maryland, and the local team is glad to answer questions before you book.

If you live in Aquasco, Maryland, a week of snorkeling and lazy beach days on St. John can feel like a long way from home, and in many ways it is. The island sits in the US Virgin Islands, far from the mid-Atlantic coast, so the trip deserves a little planning. Once you arrive, though, the pace shifts quickly, and the water becomes the center of each day. Maryland's winters are cold, which is part of why a Caribbean week appeals so much to people from this part of the country. St. John's climate stays warm and steady, so you can plan for swimming, sunscreen, and easy mornings without worrying about layers. Villa Rentals through St John Condos give you a private base at the Westin St John Resort, so the days can be built around the reef and the sand.

Planning your week from Aquasco

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the closest airport to St. John. From there, you take a taxi to Red Hook and board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. It is a simple sequence once you know it, and the local team can walk you through the details before you commit to dates so nothing catches you by surprise on arrival day.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Think about the weather you are leaving behind in Maryland and the kind of water you want to find. Many travelers from the mid-Atlantic pick a stretch of the year that gives them calm mornings for snorkeling and relaxed afternoons on the beach. Tell the team what matters most to you, and they can help you narrow the window to a week that suits your plans.
  3. Planning your stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a snorkeling trip well because you can settle in and let the routine form. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, so take that into account if you plan to rent a car. Bring your own snorkel gear if you have a favorite set, pack reef-safe sunscreen, and leave room in the schedule for doing very little.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car for a snorkeling week on St. John?

It depends on how you like to move. A car gives you flexibility to reach different beaches on your own schedule, but remember that driving on St. John is on the left. Many people find a mix works well, with a car for a few outings and relaxed days staying close to the villa and the resort's shoreline.

What should I ask St John Condos before booking from Aquasco?

Ask anything that affects your week: how the villa suits your group, what the arrival day involves, and how the ferry connection works from St. Thomas. The local team answers questions before you book, so you can settle the details first and arrive with a clear plan for your snorkeling and beach days.
