The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps families from Micanopy, Florida, plan a relaxed island trip, with villas at the Westin St John Resort and a local team that answers questions before you book.

Micanopy sits in the Southeast, where winters are mild and summers run warm and humid, so a trip to a Caribbean island can feel like a welcome change of scenery for the whole household. Families from this part of Florida often want a place with room to spread out, a kitchen for everyday meals, and enough space that nobody feels cramped after a long day of sun and swimming. Villa Rentals suit that kind of trip well. Instead of sharing a standard hotel room, you settle into a private home base at the Westin St John Resort, which gives children room to play and adults a quiet porch to unwind on. Planning the details ahead of time keeps the focus on time together rather than logistics.

Planning a family trip from Micanopy

  1. Getting to St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which is the usual gateway to the Virgin Islands, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep in mind that driving on the island is on the left, so you may want to plan rides or let the resort team guide you on getting around with children and luggage.
  2. Choosing when to leave. Florida families often pick the stretch between school breaks, when the weather is pleasant at home and the island is calm. Think about your children's school calendar, your work commitments, and the season you enjoy most. Booking early gives you a wider choice of villas and lets everyone build the trip into their plans.
  3. Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits families who want time to rest rather than rush from place to place. Make a loose list of what matters most to your group, such as beach time, meals at home, or a slow morning routine. Then ask the St John Condos team your questions before you commit, so the villa fits your family well.

Is a villa better than a hotel room for a family from Micanopy?
