The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from Lutz, Florida plan a first Caribbean trip, answering questions before you book a villa at the Westin St John Resort.
If Lutz is home, a first trip to the Caribbean can feel like a big step, and that is a good thing. Florida residents already know warm weather and the rhythm of the water, so the islands can feel familiar in some ways and completely new in others. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and it has a calm pace that many first-time visitors find refreshing. You may want to settle into one place rather than rush between stops. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you room to unpack, cook a few meals, and spread out after a day in the sun. Villas are rented by the week, which suits travelers who want time to get their bearings. Our team at St John Condos understands what a first visit involves, from packing for humid days to deciding how much to plan ahead. Write to us with your questions and we will talk them through honestly before you commit.

Getting from Lutz to St. John
- Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors from the Tampa Bay area fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi will take you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack in your schedule so connections and the ferry do not feel rushed. Keep your carry-on with essentials, since checked bags may take a while to arrive after a long day of travel.
- Pick your season carefully. Florida winters are mild, so you may enjoy a Caribbean trip in a different season than you are used to. The islands are warm year round, though rain is more likely at some times than others. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is calmer water, quieter beaches, or simply a break from the cold. Our team can talk through the seasons with you before you choose dates.
- Plan the stay itself. Once you have chosen a villa through Villa Rentals, think about how you want your days to feel. Some first-time guests like to book a few planned outings and leave the rest open. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so take a moment before you get behind the wheel. Ask us about what to pack, what to expect, and how to make the most of your week.
