The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Linganore, Maryland, plan a snorkeling and beach week on St. John, with villas at the Westin St John Resort rented by the week. Ask us anything before you book.
A week of snorkeling and beach days is one of the simplest reasons to travel to St. John. The island is small and green, the water is warm for most of the year, and the rhythm of the days tends to settle into swimming, reading, and long lunches. For someone leaving Linganore, that change of pace can feel like a real reset after a season of ordinary routines. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a home base that fits that kind of week. You can keep your own schedule, pack a cooler for beach afternoons, and step out to the water without rethinking every plan. Our team is glad to talk through which villa suits your group before you commit.

Your week of snorkeling from Linganore
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors from Maryland fly into St. Thomas, which is the airport code STT. From there, a taxi carries you to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry runs across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Pack light for the ferry, and keep your snorkel gear in a bag you can carry yourself. Remember that driving on the island is on the left.
- Choosing when to leave. Think about the months you want for calm water and warm days, then compare them with your own calendar in Linganore. Shoulder seasons can feel quieter on the beaches, while other months bring more visitors. Let your snorkeling plans guide the dates, and ask our team which weeks tend to suit a beach-focused trip.
- Planning the stay. Book your Villa Rentals early enough to secure the layout you want, especially if you are traveling as a group. Plan a rough rhythm for the week: a morning on the reef, a midday rest, and an easy evening. Share your plan with the people you travel with, and bring reef-safe sunscreen and a dry bag for the boat days.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need to rent a car to enjoy snorkeling on St. John?
It depends on how far you want to roam. Many snorkelers prefer to stay put at their villa and visit nearby beaches on foot or by short trips. If you plan to explore more widely, remember to drive on the left side of the road. Our team can help you judge what makes sense for your week.
What should I pack for a week of beach days from Linganore?
Bring your own mask and snorkel if you have a favorite pair, since fit matters a lot. Pack reef-safe sunscreen, a hat, water shoes, and a light cover for the sun. Lightweight clothes that dry quickly will serve you well. Ask us about anything you are unsure of before you book.
