The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Lamar, Colorado, plan a long-awaited island splurge, from the first flight to the final week in a villa at the Westin St John Resort. Ask the local team anything before you book.
Saving for a trip to the islands for years is its own kind of commitment, and a stay in Lamar, a quiet Colorado city on the High Plains, can make the distance feel real. Many of the people who write to us from this part of the West have been dreaming about the Caribbean for a long time. They want the trip to feel earned, unhurried, and worth every bit of the wait. A splurge like this often means choosing a villa over a standard room, so there is room to spread out, cook a meal, and wake up without a schedule. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits travelers who would rather settle into the island pace than hop between stops. Our team can walk you through what each rental includes so the decision feels clear and calm.

Planning the trip from Lamar
- Reaching the island from Colorado. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack into your travel day so a missed connection from the mountain states does not cost you the first evening. Once on St. John, remember that driving is on the left side of the road, so take a moment before you pull out of the lot.
- Choosing the season to go. Colorado winters are cold and snowy, so many travelers from Lamar feel the pull of a warm island stay during the darker months. Think about what matters most to you, whether that is calm weather, the feel of a quieter stretch of the year, or simply time away from the snow. Our team can talk through the seasons with you so the timing fits your plans and your budget.
- Planning the villa stay. Because villas are rented by the week, sketch out your days before you arrive so the stay feels intentional rather than rushed. Decide which days you want to rest, which you want to spend exploring, and which you will keep open for simply sitting on the terrace. Bring along any questions about the villa, the resort, or getting around, and send them to St John Condos before you book so you can settle into the trip with confidence.

For many travelers, yes. A villa gives you more room, a kitchen for quiet breakfasts, and a sense of home base after a long journey from the Plains. Whether it suits you depends on how you like to travel, so tell our team what your ideal week looks like and we will help you judge if a villa fits.
How do I get from the airport to where I am staying?
