The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and for travelers from Ilchester, Maryland, planning a long-dreamed splurge at the Westin St John Resort, that conversation is a good place to start. Villa Rentals at the resort give you room to settle in.
For many people in Ilchester, a trip to the islands is something saved toward for years rather than booked on a whim. Maryland winters are cold and gray, so a stretch of warm Caribbean water and bright sand can feel like the reward you have been holding onto. This page is written for that kind of trip, the one you have talked about for a long time and finally want to do properly. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and the Westin St John Resort sits in a setting that suits a slower, more considered holiday. Renting a villa at the resort means your days can follow your own pace, with room to cook, spread out, and sleep in. The sections below walk through getting there from Ilchester, choosing your timing, and planning the stay itself.

Planning your splurge from Ilchester
- Getting to St. John. Most travelers from the Ilchester area fly to St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there you board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep your luggage manageable for the ferry, and allow a relaxed margin so the connection feels easy rather than rushed.
- Choosing when to leave. Maryland's cold seasons are the usual reason people look south, so think about when the change in weather will matter most to you. Consider your own calendar, school schedules, and work commitments before you settle on dates. Your St John Condos contact can talk through which periods suit your plans and what to expect on the island at different times.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives a long-planned trip room to breathe. Decide early what you want from the stay, whether that is quiet mornings, a kitchen for simple meals, or space for everyone in your group. Note that driving on St. John is on the left, so plan how you will get around before you arrive.
