The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from Hooper Bay, Alaska, plan a winter escape from the cold to villas at the Westin St John Resort on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. Ask us anything before you book.
Hooper Bay sits on the western coast of Alaska, where winters bring long dark stretches, deep cold, and wind off the water. For many people there, a trip somewhere warm is less a luxury than a way to reset. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers the kind of mild, sunny air that common knowledge tells us tropical islands are known for, along with a slower pace that suits a winter break. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you more room than a standard hotel room, with space to cook, spread out, and settle in for a week or longer. Many travelers from the far north find that the change of scenery matters as much as the sun. St John Condos is here to talk through the details with you before you commit, so the trip feels planned rather than rushed.

Getting from Hooper Bay to St. John
- Reaching St. Thomas. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which has the closest airport, and the trip from Alaska usually involves more than one connection. Plan your departure from Hooper Bay with a little slack, since winter weather in the north can shift plans. Once you land on St. Thomas, the rest of the journey is short and straightforward.
- Crossing to the island. From the airport, most travelers take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep your bags light enough to carry comfortably on the ferry and the walk. St John Condos can explain what to expect at each step so the crossing feels easy after a long trip north to south.
- Timing your winter escape. Pick a window that fits your schedule and the weather you are trying to escape, since the islands stay warm through the winter months. Think about how much time you can take away from work and home, and whether a full week feels right. Booking early gives you more choice of villas and dates for your stay.
