The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps travelers from Girdletree, Maryland, plan a quiet week to unwind on St. John, with villa rentals set in a calm corner of the Caribbean that suits a slower pace.

Girdletree sits on the Eastern Shore of Maryland, a region of flat farmland, slow back roads, and a pace of life that many people come to appreciate. If you are planning a week away from that routine, you may be looking for somewhere quiet enough to let your shoulders drop and your phone stay in a drawer. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers that kind of stillness, especially when you stay in a private villa rather than a crowded hotel floor. The Westin St John Resort is a natural base for a restful week, and the villa rentals offered through St John Condos give you room to spread out, cook a simple breakfast, and keep your own schedule. Many travelers from Maryland find that a villa feels less like a trip and more like a temporary home, which is exactly what a week of unwinding calls for. Before you commit, the team is glad to talk through which villa suits your needs.

Planning a quiet week from Girdletree

  1. Getting from the area. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there you take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Driving on the island is on the left side of the road, so take that into account if you plan to rent a car. Many people find the ferry a relaxing start to the week in itself.
  2. Choosing when to leave Maryland. Maryland winters are cold, so many Girdletree travelers choose to leave during the colder months when a warm, sunny week feels especially welcome. The islands stay warm through the year, so the best window is whatever suits your work and family commitments. Think about how much time you want to give yourself to settle in, and whether you prefer a quieter stretch of the calendar or a time when more people are around.
  3. Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are booked by the week, which suits a true unwind. Decide early how much of your time you want to plan and how much you want to leave open. Stock up on groceries, bring a good book, and think about whether you want the resort's amenities close at hand. The St John Condos team can answer questions about the villas and how they fit a relaxed week before you book.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa a good choice for a quiet week from Girdletree?

For many travelers from Girdletree, yes. A villa gives you private space, a kitchen for simple meals, and the freedom to set your own pace. Compared with a busy hotel, a villa rental tends to feel calmer and more like a home base, which suits a week meant for rest rather than sightseeing.

Do I need to rent a car on St. John?

It depends on how you want to spend your week. Driving on St. John is on the left, and some visitors prefer to stay close to their villa and the resort. If you do want to explore, plan ahead and remember the left-side driving. The St John Condos team can help you think through transportation before you arrive.
