The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos can help travelers from East Riverdale, Maryland, plan a snorkeling and beach week on St. John, with villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort set up by the week. Ask us anything before you book.
East Riverdale sits in Maryland, in the Southeast part of the country, so most travelers from here know the feeling of a long winter and the wish for clear water and warm sand. A week on St. John suits that wish well. The island is small and green, the beaches are easy to reach, and the water is calm enough for snorkeling on many days. Plenty of people from this area use the trip to slow down and let the days run on their own schedule. A snorkeling week rewards a little planning. You will want a villa with room to rinse gear, a comfortable place to sit with a cup of coffee in the morning, and a relaxed rhythm that lets you return to the water more than once a day. Villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which gives you space to settle in. St John Condos is a local team, and we are glad to talk through what a snorkeling week might look like for you.

Planning your snorkeling week from East Riverdale
- Getting to the island. Most visitors from East Riverdale fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there, take a taxi to Red Hook and board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so plan your rental car with that in mind, or simply rely on taxis for the first few days while you find your footing.
- Choosing when to leave Maryland. Think about the weather back home before picking your dates. Winters in Maryland can be cold and gray, so many travelers from this part of the country choose to leave during the coldest months. Beach and water days are a good fit whenever you can take the time off. Pick a week that matches your work or family calendar and gives you enough room to enjoy the water without rushing.
- Planning the stay. Book a villa rental at the Westin St John Resort for the full week so you can settle in, rinse snorkel gear, and return to the water when the conditions feel right. Bring reef-safe sunscreen, a dry bag for your phone, and a light layer for evenings. Send your questions to St John Condos before you book, and we will help you choose the villa that fits your plans.
