The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and many travelers from Danville, Maryland, reach out to plan a winter escape from the cold at the Westin St John Resort.

Winters in Maryland can feel long, gray, and cold, and by late January many families in Danville are ready for a change of scenery. A winter escape to St. John in the US Virgin Islands offers warm air, clear water, and a slower pace that feels far removed from snow shovels and icy driveways. St John Condos rents villas at the Westin St John Resort, and our team helps travelers from Danville decide whether a villa suits their trip. Many people picture a Caribbean holiday as a hotel room with a view, but a villa gives you a kitchen, a separate sitting area, and room to spread out. Villa Rentals at the resort are booked by the week, which suits families and couples who want to settle in rather than move from place to place. Before you commit, you can ask us anything about the layout, the setting, or what to expect during the stay.

Your winter escape from Danville

  1. Reaching St. John. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there, a taxi takes you to Red Hook, where you board the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan for some transfers, and remember that driving on the island is on the left, so many guests prefer to arrange transport in advance and keep their rental car for short trips.
  2. Timing your departure. Maryland winters are coldest in the deeper months of the season, so many Danville travelers aim to leave once the first hard freeze has passed and the islands are still in their dry, comfortable season. Think about school breaks, work commitments, and how much time you want to spend away. Our team can talk through the timing with you so the week you choose feels right for your household.
  3. Planning the stay. Because villas are rented by the week, it helps to decide early how you want your days to feel. Some guests want a quiet base with a long morning on the terrace, while others plan outings around the island. Tell us who is traveling, what you enjoy, and how you like to cook or dine, and we will help you pick a villa that fits the trip you have in mind.

Frequently asked questions

Is a villa better than a hotel room for a winter trip from Danville?

It depends on your group. A villa gives you a full kitchen, separate living space, and more room for children or extended family, which many travelers from Danville find helpful for a week-long stay. If you prefer daily housekeeping and a front desk, a hotel room may suit you better. Our team can walk you through the differences before you book.

Do I need to plan the ferry ahead?

Many visitors from Danville find it easier to plan the trip from the airport on St. Thomas to Red Hook and then the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay in advance. Taxi and ferry arrangements can be simpler when you know your arrival plans ahead of time. Ask our team about the most practical way to connect on your travel day.
