The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos can help travelers from Buena Vista, CO plan a week away with friends at the Westin St John Resort. Our local team answers questions before you book, so you can settle the details with confidence.
A week away with friends from Buena Vista often means trading mountain air and open trails for warm water and a slower pace. Colorado's climate is cold in winter and mild in summer, so many travelers from the state find the Caribbean a welcome change of season. Villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort give a group room to spread out, cook together, and gather on a shared deck after a day in the sun. Planning for a group is easier when everyone knows what to expect. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas and then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Keep in mind that driving on the island happens on the left, which is worth remembering before anyone takes the wheel. With that in mind, you can focus on what matters most: a relaxed week with the people you travel with.

Planning Your Week from Buena Vista
- Getting to St. John. Most of your group will likely fly into St. Thomas, the island airport that serves St. John travelers. From there, a taxi will carry you to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry crosses to Cruz Bay. Ask everyone to plan their connections together, and share one itinerary so nobody ends up waiting alone at the airport. Keeping arrivals close together makes the transfer smoother for the whole crew.
- Choosing Your Departure Window. Think about when your group can realistically leave Colorado, especially if people have jobs, school, or family commitments. Winter brings the strongest pull for many travelers from the mountains, but any season offers its own appeal on the islands. Talk through everyone's availability early, then pick a window that suits the whole group rather than only the most flexible person.
- Planning the Stay Together. Villa rentals are booked by the week, which suits a group that wants a shared home base. Decide early how you will split the shared spaces, meals, and any rental car on the left-side roads. Agree on a simple budget and a plan for groceries and outings so the week feels easy. Our team can walk through villa options with you before you commit.
