The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos, a local team on St. John, can answer questions for travelers from Vamo, Florida, before they book a week of snorkeling and beach days at the Westin St John Resort.
Vamo sits in the Southeast, where the water is warm and the days are bright for much of the year, which makes a trip to the Caribbean feel like a natural step for many families and friends. A week on St. John lets you swap long drives for an unhurried rhythm, with mornings in the water and afternoons spent on sand. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a private base to return to between swims. Once you arrive, the days tend to follow their own pace. Snorkeling gear can go straight from the villa to the shore, and a slow breakfast on the terrace sets up the rest of the day. Many travelers from Florida find that the island feels familiar in its warmth, yet quieter and more open than the crowded coastlines they know at home, which is exactly the change of scene they came for.

Planning your week from Vamo
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Vamo fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there, the passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan your bags with the ferry in mind, since you will be carrying them onto a boat before you reach your villa. Driving on St. John is on the left, so think about that before you rent a car.
- Choosing your travel window. Florida and the Caribbean share a warm climate, so the islands feel familiar, but timing still matters for calm water and dry days. Many people prefer the quieter months outside the peak winter holiday rush. Pick dates that suit your schedule, and ask the St John Condos team which weeks tend to suit snorkeling best before you commit to a booking.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives you room to settle in and try different beaches without rushing. Sketch a loose plan with one or two set days, then leave the rest open for the water. Think about snorkel gear, sunscreen, and reef-safe products before you leave Vamo, and ask our team about the villa layout so you know what to pack.
