The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Susitna, Alaska, plan a milestone celebration on St. John, with villas at the Westin St John Resort rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels different from everyday life, and for many people in Susitna that means a warm, quiet place far from the long northern winter. St. John, in the US Virgin Islands, offers exactly that kind of change. The island is a small, green place with clear water and a slower rhythm, and a villa at the Westin St John Resort gives you room to gather family or close friends without the bustle of a large hotel. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are a practical way to make the trip feel personal. You settle into a home base, cook a few meals, and set your own pace for each day of the celebration. St John Condos is a local team that can talk through which villa suits your group and what the week might look like, so the planning feels simple and the day you arrive feels like the start of the celebration itself.

Planning a milestone trip from Susitna
- Reaching the island. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then take a taxi to Red Hook. From there a passenger ferry carries you across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little slack in your schedule for the connections, since the ferry is part of the adventure and it helps to arrive relaxed before the celebration begins.
- Choosing the season. Susitna sees deep cold in the winter months, so many travelers from Alaska find the islands especially appealing when the northern nights are longest. Think about the time of year that matches your milestone, whether that is a winter escape or a warmer stretch of the year. A short conversation with the St John Condos team can help you weigh the timing against your family's calendar.
- Planning the stay. Villa Rentals are typically booked by the week, which gives your group time to settle in and enjoy the celebration without rushing. Decide early who is coming, how many bedrooms you need, and what kind of celebration you want, whether that is a quiet dinner or a full gathering. Driving on St. John is on the left, so think about whether you want a rental car or prefer to keep plans close to the villa.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa better than a hotel room for a milestone celebration?
For a group, a villa usually gives more room to gather, cook, and spend time together without leaving the property. Couples who want a quieter, more private celebration often find it suits them as well. St John Condos can help you compare what each option offers for the number of people you are bringing.
What should I ask before I book from Alaska?
Ask about the villa layout, how many people it comfortably holds, and what is included with your rental. It also helps to ask how the week is structured and how the arrival and departure days work with your travel plans. The St John Condos team answers these questions before you book, so you can plan with confidence.
