Planning your St. John splurge from Stevensville

  1. Getting there from home. Most visitors reach St. John by flying to St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, and then taking a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. From Stevensville, you will likely connect through a larger hub on the way south. Build in a relaxed approach to the ferry, since the crossing is part of the adventure rather than a hurdle to rush.
  2. Choosing when to go. Stevensville winters are cold, so many travelers from Maryland look toward the islands during the colder months when the contrast is most welcome. The Caribbean stays warm year round, so the choice comes down to your own calendar and comfort. Think about when your schedule opens up and when you can truly leave work behind for a full week.
  3. Planning your stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a long-planned trip well. Before you book, talk through the villa options, the size of your group, and what you hope to do each day. St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, so you can settle the details with people who know the island and feel confident about the plan.
