The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos, a local team that answers questions before you book, helps travelers from St. Mary's County plan a beach-focused stay in a villa at the Westin St John Resort on St. John.
If you live in St. Mary's County, you already know what good beach time feels like on the Chesapeake. The Caribbean asks for a different kind of planning, but the reward is a longer, warmer stretch of sand and water than most Maryland weekends can offer. Many families and couples from this part of the Southeast choose a villa rental so they can set their own pace, cook a few meals, and walk down to the water whenever the mood strikes. A beach-centered trip works best when the rest of the plan stays simple. Pick a stay long enough to settle in, plan your days around swimming and snorkeling, and leave room for slow mornings. Our villa rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a home base close to the beach, so the trip revolves around the water instead of logistics. Ask us anything before you commit.

Planning a beach trip from St. Mary's County
- Getting to St. John. Most visitors from St. Mary's County fly into St. Thomas, airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep your carry-on packed with swimwear, sunscreen, and any medication you need, since bags can take a while to reach you after a flight. Once on island, remember that driving is on the left, which may feel unfamiliar at first.
- Choosing when to travel. Maryland winters are cold, so many people from St. Mary's County head south when the local water is still chilly and the days are short. Think about when you want to be in the sun and when crowds on the beach might matter most to you. Shoulder periods often suit a relaxed beach plan well. Share your preferred months with our local team and they can talk you through what to expect.
- Planning your villa stay. Villas are rented by the week, which suits a beach-focused trip well. Choose a unit near the resort beach, confirm what is included, and plan one or two quiet days so you do not feel rushed. Bring beach gear you enjoy using, and decide early which excursions matter most. Our team at St John Condos answers questions before you book, so you can settle the details with confidence.
