The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos helps travelers from Sitka City and Borough, Alaska, plan a milestone celebration at a villa near the Westin St John Resort, with a local team ready to answer questions before you book.
A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels separate from ordinary life. For travelers from Sitka City and Borough in Alaska, the contrast between a northern coastal town and the warm, low islands of the US Virgin Islands can make a celebration feel especially memorable. Many people in this part of the West are used to long, grey winters, so a trip to a Caribbean island in the cooler months can feel like a deliberate reset. Villa rentals suit celebrations well because the group gets a private space to gather, cook together, and linger over meals. Instead of splitting into separate hotel rooms, everyone shares one home base. St John Condos arranges villas at the Westin St John Resort, and our local team is happy to talk through layouts, group sizes, and what would suit your occasion before anything is booked.

Planning Your Celebration From Sitka City and Borough
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Alaska fly to St. Thomas, airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and catch the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Keep in mind that the ferry is the final leg, so pack light and plan for your luggage to be carried between stops. Our team can share practical notes on the route so nothing catches you off guard.
- Choosing your dates. Travelers from a northern state often look for a window that offers warm weather and a calm pace, so think about what matters most for your celebration. Some people prefer the drier stretch of the year, while others want a quieter season with fewer guests around. Tell us your milestone date and we will help you weigh the options against your guest list and schedule.
- Planning the stay. Villas are rented by the week, which gives your group room to settle in and enjoy the celebration without rushing. Decide early who is coming, how many bedrooms you need, and whether you want a private space for a meal or a toast. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, so think about how you will get around the island.
