The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos helps travelers from Salcha, Alaska, plan a milestone celebration on St. John, where villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week. Our local team answers questions before you book.

A milestone is worth marking somewhere that feels like a real change of scenery, and for many people in Salcha that means a trip far south of the long Alaska winter. St John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, reached by flying to St. Thomas and then making your way across by taxi and passenger ferry. The pace there is unhurried, which suits a celebration meant to be savored rather than rushed. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a private home base for the occasion, with room to gather family or close friends around one table. Because the villas are rented by the week, you can settle in and let the days stretch out. Our team is glad to talk through what fits your group before you commit, so the planning feels calm rather than crowded.

Planning your celebration from Salcha

  1. Getting to the island. Most visitors from Alaska fly to St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan for a full day of travel, and build in a little slack so the last leg does not feel hurried. Once you arrive, remember that driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, which takes a moment to get used to.
  2. Choosing your timing. Salcha sees long, cold winters, so many people pick a season that offers a clear break from the cold. Think about which dates matter most for your group, whether that is a family schedule or the date of the milestone itself. Tell our team the rough window you have in mind and we will help you weigh the options before you lock anything in.
  3. Planning the stay. Consider how many people you are bringing and what kind of celebration you want, whether quiet and intimate or full of shared meals. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you space to host, rest, and come and go on your own schedule. Settle the details early, like who is arriving when and how you will get around the island.
