Planning a beach trip from Palm Springs
- Reaching the island. Most visitors from Florida fly into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From there you take a taxi to Red Hook and board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan a little buffer for the transfers so the first day feels relaxed. A local team can walk you through this sequence before you commit to dates.
- Choosing your season. Florida travelers already know their own climate, and the Virgin Islands are warm for much of the year. Think about whether you prefer a quieter stretch or a busier one, and what kind of water conditions you hope for. Once you settle on a window, check villa availability at the Westin St John Resort, since the best options tend to go early.
- Setting up your villa. Villa rentals are arranged by the week, so decide how many days you want to stay on the sand and in the water. Ask about the layout and whether the villa suits a group or a couple. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, so plan any island outings with that in mind. St John Condos is happy to answer every question before you book.
