The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book a villa at the Westin St John Resort, and many travelers from Northway, Alaska, find that a first Caribbean trip feels much easier with that kind of help.

Coming from Northway, you may be used to long stretches of cold, a landscape of snow and quiet, and days that shift with the seasons. A first trip to the Caribbean asks you to think differently about weather, time zones, and what a vacation can feel like. St. John is a small island in the US Virgin Islands, and its warm climate is something most northern travelers enjoy knowing about well before they pack. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort give you a home base rather than a hotel room. You can cook a simple breakfast, spread out, and settle into the island pace at your own speed. Because villas are rented by the week, a longer stay is a natural fit for travelers who have come a great distance and want to take their time.

Getting from Northway to St. John

  1. Reach St. Thomas first. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which has the airport code STT. From there you take a taxi to Red Hook, then board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Plan your connections from home with care, since the journey from interior Alaska involves more than one leg and you will want a little breathing room before your ferry.
  2. Choose your season carefully. Leaving Northway in the depths of winter can make the warm Caribbean feel especially welcome, while a summer departure may feel like a smaller change. Consider what you hope to get out of the trip, whether that is rest, sun, or a slower rhythm, and let the season guide your timing. Your St John Condos contact can talk through the options with you.
  3. Plan the stay itself. Once you arrive, a villa gives you room to set your own schedule. Remember that driving on St. John is on the left, which may take some adjustment for drivers from Alaska. Think about groceries, transportation between the resort and the parts of the island you want to see, and how you will spend slow mornings. A little planning now leaves more space for simply enjoying the view.
