The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos is a local team that helps travelers from Ninilchik, Alaska, plan a week away with friends at villa rentals on St. John, close to the Westin St John Resort.

A week away with friends is one of the easiest trips to plan when everyone has a shared idea of what they want. For a group leaving Ninilchik, Alaska, that often means a few days of unhurried mornings, a shared table for meals, and room for everyone to do their own thing. St. John suits that kind of trip well. Villa rentals are typically booked by the week, so your group can settle into one home base rather than moving from room to room. Because Ninilchik sits in the northern part of the country, the contrast with a Caribbean island is sharp. Winters there are cold and dark, and many travelers look forward to warm water and an easy pace. St. John keeps its own rhythm, with plenty of space to relax. St John Condos can help your group sort out what matters most before anyone books, so the week fits everyone at the table.

Getting from Ninilchik to St. John

  1. Reaching the islands. Most visitors reach St. John by flying into St. Thomas, which uses the airport code STT. From the airport, a taxi will take your group to Red Hook, where the passenger ferry runs across to Cruz Bay on St. John. Plan ahead for luggage, since a group of friends often carries more gear than expected, and confirm everyone's connections before you leave home.
  2. Choosing when to go. Think about when your group can realistically travel together, since schedules for friends rarely line up easily. Coming from a cold northern state, many people prefer to leave during the darker months, when a warm week feels like the greatest contrast. Talk through dates early, and let the St John Condos team help you weigh timing against how many people are coming.
  3. Planning the stay. Choose a villa with enough bedrooms and a layout that gives everyone some privacy. Agree on a shared budget for groceries and outings, and decide early who handles bookings and payments. Keep a simple plan for days on the island, leaving open time so the week does not feel scheduled. Driving on St. John is on the left, so consider who will be behind the wheel.
