The Westin St John Resort
St John Condos is a local team that answers questions before you book, and many travelers from Loch Lynn Heights, Maryland, reach St. John by flying to St. Thomas and taking a taxi and the passenger ferry from there. Villas at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, which suits a group of friends.
A week away with friends is one of the easiest kinds of island trip to plan, as long as everyone agrees early on what they want from the days. Some groups want slow mornings and long dinners, while others want to explore the coastline in a rented car. A villa gives your group a shared home base at the Westin St John Resort, with room to gather when you want company and space to scatter when you want quiet. For travelers from Loch Lynn Heights, the trip usually begins with a flight into St. Thomas, followed by a taxi ride to Red Hook and a passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Keep in mind that driving on St. John is on the left, which matters if you plan to share the wheel. Talk through these details with your group before anyone commits, so the week feels relaxed from the first morning.

Planning your week from Loch Lynn Heights
- Getting to St. John. Most people from Loch Lynn Heights fly into St. Thomas, then take a taxi to Red Hook and the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay. Ask everyone to check their flight options well before the trip, and aim to land on the same day where you can. Keeping the group together through the ferry crossing makes the whole arrival feel simpler and more fun.
- Choosing when to leave. Winters in Maryland are cold, so many friends from the area choose to head south while the weather at home is still grim. Think about school schedules, work commitments, and the kind of weather you want on the islands. Agree on a date as a group, then send a single message to the rest of the friends so no one is left guessing about the plan.
- Planning the stay. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are booked by the week, which gives your group a steady home base. Decide who is responsible for groceries, rental cars, and shared dinners before you arrive. Send your questions to the St John Condos team before booking, and they will help you match the right villa to the size of your group.
Frequently asked questions
Is a villa a good fit for a group of friends from Loch Lynn Heights?
Often it is. A villa gives your group shared space to cook, relax, and gather in the evenings, while still letting people step away for a quiet morning. Because villas are rented by the week, the whole group can settle into a rhythm instead of packing up every day.
How do we handle getting everyone from Loch Lynn Heights to the same place?
Many groups from Maryland book flights into St. Thomas on overlapping days and meet at the taxi stand in Red Hook for the ride to the ferry. Share your arrival details in one group thread, and ask the St John Condos team any questions about the crossing before you travel.
