The Westin St John Resort

St John Condos can help couples from Florida Gulf Coast University plan a relaxed island getaway, with villas at the Westin St John Resort rented by the week and a local team ready to answer questions before you book.

Many couples in Florida Gulf Coast University's home city want a getaway that feels separate from everyday routines, and a villa on St. John offers that kind of space. Your own private home base lets you slow down together, cook a simple dinner, and decide each morning how the day should unfold. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are set up for exactly that kind of unhurried stay. Because the island sits in the US Virgin Islands, the trip has a different pace from a typical Florida weekend. Most visitors fly into St. Thomas, take a taxi to Red Hook, and board the passenger ferry to Cruz Bay, then settle into the resort for the rest of the stay. Knowing that sequence ahead of time makes the trip feel calm rather than complicated for two people traveling together.

Planning Your Trip from Florida Gulf Coast University

  1. Reaching the Island. Most couples from this part of Florida fly into St. Thomas, which is the usual gateway for St. John. From the airport, plan on a taxi ride to Red Hook, then the passenger ferry across to Cruz Bay. Keep your bags light for the ferry, and confirm the ferry details with your team before you leave home.
  2. Choosing Your Season. Florida has warm weather for much of the year, but the islands have their own seasonal rhythm that may feel different. Think about whether you prefer a quieter stretch or a busier period, and let that guide your dates. Your St John Condos team can talk through what each season tends to feel like for couples.
  3. Planning the Stay. Villas are rented by the week, so consider how many days you want to unwind versus explore. Driving on St. John is on the left side of the road, which takes a little adjustment, so plan your outings with that in mind. Share your interests with the team, and they will help shape a stay that suits you both.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a car on St. John as a couple?

Many couples find a rental car helpful for exploring beyond the resort, but remember that driving on St. John is on the left. Some prefer to stay close to the villa and walk or take taxis. Tell the St John Condos team how you like to move around, and they can help you decide what fits your plans.

Is a villa better than a hotel room for a couples trip?

A villa gives you a kitchen, separate living space, and more privacy than a standard room, which many couples value. Villa Rentals at the Westin St John Resort are rented by the week, so you can settle in fully. The local team can answer specific questions about layouts before you book.
